Sinclair Laird School- Fall 2010
Third Field Experience- David Dillon Project
For my third field experience, I participated in an unique alternative field placement, lead by Professor David Dillon. The project consists of 15 solid weeks (from late August to early December) of full-time student teaching along with weekly seminars. In contrast to the regular field placement, this opportunity gave me more than double the time of experience in the classroom- it essentially realistically put me in the shoes of a professional teacher, with the support of a Co-operating teacher, supervisor, and Professor Dillon. First Days of School
Setting up classrooms, routines, and getting to know the students were a few of the many important things that were happening in the days before and first days of school. It was an invaluable experience to be able to learn what a teacher does in the beginning of the year- starting with cleaning the classroom and designing the set-up of the classroom for the year to come.
Based on this unique experience I was able to came up with my own plan for days before, first day of school, and first days and weeks of school. If you would like to read my ideas of how I would start the school year, click here or find the page on the tab "My Approach on..." at the top menu.
